Water Treatment Systems Water Softeners

Soft water is not a luxury, but an investment that pays dividends. “Hardness” in water is simply the concentration of calcium and magnesium salts, which cause considerable damage to your home appliances, pipes, and water equipment over time. The good news is that these minerals are easily removed using a water softener.

Contact Us Well Pumps & Systems

The Water Shed supplies, installs, replaces and repairs most types of pump systems for your new or existing well. With four certified pump installers on staff, we’re just a phone call away and ready to help! Whether you’re a contractor or the owner of a home or cottage, we have a complete line of well pumps and related equipment:

Contact Us Geothermal Heat Pumps

A geothermal heat pump or ground source heat pump (GSHP) is a central heating and/or cooling system that transfers heat to or from the ground. It uses the earth as a heat source (in the winter) or a heat sink (in the summer). This design takes advantage of the moderate temperatures in the ground to boost efficiency and reduce the operational costs of heating and cooling systems, and may be combined with solar heating to form a geosolar system with even greater efficiency.

The Water Shed carries the Nordic line of Residential & Commercial Heat Pumps.

Contact Us Water Treatment Systems

The Water Shed installs, repairs, maintains and services a wide range of water treatment systems, including water softeners, conditioners and other treatment equipment.

We offer service contracts that feature regularly scheduled preventative maintenance visits to keep your equipment running at full capacity all year long. We’re experienced in repairing and servicing almost all brands of water treatment equipment.

City Water Solutions

People with general concerns about water purity and those afflicted with environmental sensitivities may want to consider The Water Shed’s treatment solutions. Simple carbon filtration can improve the taste and smell of municipal water and reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals and particulates.

Tannin Removal Systems

Tannins are dissolved, decayed organic matter and are generally not a health risk when found in water. In fact, most people drink a form of tannin every day in the guise of tea or coffee. The Water Shed offers various tannin removal options which include our own Colour Softener, that we designed and manufacture onsite.

Ultrafiltration

Ultrafiltration is used to correct problems involving mud, sediment and turbidity. The Water Shed employs this technology when the sediments can’t be removed with a regular filter.

PH Neutrailizers

The acidity or alkalinity of water is referred to as its pH level. Water with a low pH (less than 6.5) could contain elevated levels of toxic metals, cause premature damage to metal piping, and have associated aesthetic problems such as a metallic or sour taste, staining of laundry, and the characteristic “blue-green” staining of sinks and drains.

The primary way to treat the problem of low pH water is with the use of a neutralizer.

Arsenic Elemination System

The arsenic elimination system is a special system developed and field tested by The Water Shed.

When combinations of problems exist, the arsenic elimination system is often the most economical choice. This system also removes other minerals including gaseous sulfur and iron. Several models are available to suit varying water chemistries.

Reverse Osmosis and Drinking Water

Reverse osmosis is an ultra-fine, high pressure filtration system that gives you safe, potable, good-tasting drinking water. Purification is achieved by physically removing contaminants found in water such as uranium, arsenic, and bacteria.

Ultraviolet (UV) Sterilization Systems

Your water supply may not be as clean as it appears. Ultraviolet (UV) sterilization disinfects your drinking water, makes it safe, and does not alter the taste, colour, or odour of your water.

UV sterilization is the perfect choice for treating water used for drinking and food preparation. Our systems are low in cost for both the product and its ongoing operation.

Chemical-free Water Conditioners

Chemical free water conditioners are generally used for iron, sulfur, and sediment removal. They do not use a filter mechanism but specific media.

Iron in your water can leave stains on your dishes, laundry, sinks, and plumbing fixtures. At The Water Shed, we carry iron filters and conditioners to eliminate these problems.

Sediments can give water a cloudy look, making it unpleasant to drink and to use generally. Our water filter uses standard filtering medias including Filter Ag, sand and mixed media.

Salt-free Water Softening Systems

A salt-free water softening system may be appropriate for well owners who have a very high level of hardness in their water, especially if the level is over 50. This is found in certain rural areas in Nova Scotia, where hardness levels even reach 100.

These systems are designed for the discerning customer that wants sparkling clear water throughout their home. These systems will remove almost all contaminants that make your water aesthetically displeasing. They are even employed in situations were other treatment methods are unsuccessful at remedying the problems.
